A Good Oops:)

We made our plans and we changed our plans and we ended up at the first after all.I feel a bit like I am struggling to really connect with the church we are attending. Everyone is so busy, including us, and so we miss out on so much. Christ has given us this group of people for a reason. Even though I am often afraid to jump into relationships, I want too with this group!

Baby boy had a fever Saturday night so we assumed we weren’t going to the church’s big ‘kick off’ picnic as planned. We took our Sunday slow because of our boy feeling off. We made pancakes and relaxed. The kids started to get antsy and so we decided a little bike ride would do no harm for every ones sake.

As we passed a local park we realized our congregation was out in the field and then remembered the picnic. We are usually not spontaneous people and our new plan meant not going to the picnic (which had already begun) but I am also a romantic and felt like there was a reason for us spotting the group. There was no reason not to swing back and join the group…After all, we where already out and about, had a fully loaded diaper bag and everyone was in a good mood!

The kids had a blast and my man and I felt like we finally made it out to something going on at this church!

(Only Dad can look serious while borrowing his son’s balloon hat!)

It felt like summer! Mid September and the weather was perfectly summer-y! These are the kind of days you have to grab a hold of and deliberately enjoy! I am hoping God changes more of our mature decisions and plans for our better real soon.

My Frequently Annual Ladies Tea!

This years tea party was the biggest yet!

So happy to have it at OUR HOME! The patio worked perfectly. We rounded up some patio tables and had it all looking pretty with table cloths and flowers from my yard and my mother in law’s (thanks Deb!).Potluck style was how we pulled together the above feast! It worked out beautifully! There where home made chocolates, home made cheese cakes and plenty of veggies and fruit as well! The night before I was a little nervous as to whether I would have enough tea cups in my collection but it JUST worked out (phew). A good reason to find a few more pretty cups though! One of the finest moments of the day was when my big girl and a good pal of hers picked some treats from my gardens and went around offering them to my guests. I had to laugh when I heard them asking the ladies, very politely, ‘Would you like a raspberry or an onion?’ They where trying to convince ladies to try some very fresh chives of mine as well as the newly ripened berries!

(This is most of the ladies from the poker night we have once a month!)(My eldest daughter has been to each tea and this year she looked particularly mature!)
(This is only the second my younger daughter has been to and since is a bit of an introvert she spent much time avoiding the crowd!)(Now we don’t invite dogs, but since my sister Karla’s doggy was there and the weather was hot we had to let her have a cup of tea too!)

This was the fifth tea I have hosted, and as with each year, it is the big group photo at the end of the day that is my big reward! I look back at them when I add a new one to the collection and I always feel so blessed to have had all these wonderful women take part in my life story!

Little Bit of Special

A house needs a grandma in it. ~Louisa May Alcott

(Bed time stories with Nanny.)

Grandma’s give even to the point of getting… getting sick that is…

Both Grandma’s helped out a great deal this past week!

I was stuck in bed and Garnet’s mom took the kids for a couple days and even came and helped us catch up on house work. My mom then drove all the way down to watch the kids till I got better… well only a couple days after I was able to get out of bed all the kids and Nanny where in bed sick.

How can I say thank you enough when they where brave enough to help when a bug was in the house?

Grandmas hold our tiny hands for just a little while, but our hearts forever. ~Author Unknown

What children need most are the essentials that grandparents provide in abundance. They give unconditional love, kindness, patience, humor, comfort, lessons in life. And, most importantly, cookies. ~Rudolph Giuliani
