I am learning the difference between owning stress and stress owning you. Continue reading →

The Poodle
“Animals are such agreeable friends – they ask no questions,
they pass no criticisms.” ~ George Elliot
Pets can be the best balm for a hurting heart.
Consider this my formal blog announcement that we did add a third furry friend to the family this year. Her name is Persephone and we adopted her this summer past. She is the exact dog I have always called my dream dog… well, if my dream dog had been put in the dryer too long. She is a purebred miniature black poodle. I have always wanted a standard poodle for bird hunting but this little lady will do just fine in every other pet aspect as I plan to explain further.
‘You are Loved’ seems just right…
“I thought I could describe a state; make a map of sorrow. Sorrow, however, turns out to be not a state but a process.”
~C.S. Lewis (A Grief Observed)
Even when you have mourned the death of a loved one before the whole processes is very confusing for you. Each and every individual person who dies leaves a unfillable hole in your life… their being and mass once took that space up and it will never really be filled again in this life. Mourning will appear familiar and completely new with each unique person you say farewell too. It can be hard to know what to say to someone who is dealing with death front and center, but perhaps it helps to know it is very foggy for them too.
Thanking God The Dishwasher Broke!
9 Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. 10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another; 11 not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; 12 rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;
~Romans 12: 9-12~ (Authorized KJV)
I recall a line from a quote, meant to be inspirational, that goes something like this, ‘be grateful for dirty dishes for they mean your family is feed’. This little blurb has been coming to mind a lot more of late… as my dishwasher has been broken for months now.

So here is a little note to let you know I am still around. It has been a mild and cozy winter. The new cat in the family seriously adds to the cozy factor as only a snuggly, soft, purr happy kitty can. Been cross country skiing a lot more this year and enjoying so much time at home, organizing and trying to stream line the family life, if you will 🙂
There Was An Autumn!
For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; …
~Ecclesiastes 3:1-22~ ESV
Saying autumn was lovely is almost a given… it was lovely… and longer then usual so we enjoyed mild snowless weather right up until December. Even now our December is not crazy snowy or crazy cold. The kids had a great time covering the whole town on Halloween, getting too much candy and enjoying the hot chocolate and hotdogs handed out by our local seniors club. I ran around taking as many pictures of the pretty changing leaves, as often as I could get out, and the dog (Riddick the smooth fox terrier) enjoyed the longer warm season… he hibernates come winter… poor little guy has very little fur. School events are underway with clubs and sports for each of the kids, my man and I are enjoying our continued time spend volunteering for Spoken Word Ministries and we are all settled in to our old house actually able to await a real snowed in winter after such a good fall.
Life is Push-y
IT IS DECEMBER! Oh my, I just keep looking back to post on here and that wasn’t my plan. I usually write to work through my present ‘mind stuff’ but to be straight with you… a touch of anxiety mixed with laziness has given me a bad case of the ‘I don’t cares or think I shouldn’t care… or should I care…’ about this blog. So maybe my next post will be a run down about our autumn. Today I am going to spill a little of myself.
